WHAT IS COLLABORATIVE FAMILY LAW?

Collaborative Law Model offers a non-adversarial, respectful approach to divorce that does not involve courts. Divorcing Couples and their attorneys act as settlement teams and not as adversaries. The parties and their attorneys sign a pledge to work out an agreement without going to court. Neutral financial and mental health professionals are available to help the family address parenting concerns and evaluate assets. If a settlement cannot be achieved, collaborative attorneys must withdraw from representation and parties must hire new lawyers if they need to go to court.
